Business Cards and Websites

Hey Ideation!

We had approx. 12 people today; about half from last week, but that's alright as long as we have fun. So today's lecture/discussion was on business cards and websites. Mostly business cards, and really just getting yourself started. Highlights in the lecture were:

Business Cards
- Make sure you check your spelling before printing!
- Make your information clear and easy to read, and your card unique. With that said, make sure the card reflects you.
- You can use templates available on sites, but it's generally better if you can customize your card on Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
- If you need help or want advice, ask. Ask a graphic design student, a friend, your teacher, a family member, us, anyone! Like I mentioned last week, critiques are not concrete laws. They are just that person's opinion of what you can do to improve the work.

Website
- Buy the domain name of your website; you don't have to advertise it, just make sure you have it so there's less headache later.
- Have your contact information available on all pages of your site. It'll save whoever is looking through your site time.

Printing Business Cards Online:

Morning Prints - Great site if you have a solid idea of what you want.
Vista Print - The first 250 cards are FREE!!!
Overnight Prints - Explore your options!
Zazzle - Explore your options some more!!
MOO - Rather unique business cards; there's even a facebook business card option.
Got Print - This site has business cards in unique shapes.

As for the concept workshop challenge, it was to create a design/illustration of these three elements: stingray, insect, and forest. Forest designated there needed to be a background. Time limit: 30 minutes.
